This was my first project using the non commercial version of RfM. I choosed a subject it could be useful for lighting.
Modeling and Texturing
Modeling was mostly done in Maya, using curves and polygons, and Mudbox to break the symmetry.
Texturing consisted in a bit of texture projection and painting.
Lighting and Shading
This project involved using Renderman RIS.
Wood, and fruit shaders were done using an sss shader.
The light setup involves an HDRI for the reflections and two sets of lights, one for the curtain and one for the table. For the fruit basket I used a three point light setup. The curtain has a strong backlight connected to a gobo, and four lights as a filler in the front.
The render was split into three layers, one for the fruit basket, one for the curtains and one for the jar of water as caustics are better handled by the VCM integrator. Each layer with the usual list of AOVs but this was the first time I used a point cloud and a normal map pass to tweak the lighting in comp.
